Itizen is a place for parents to buy, sell, swap and share kidstuff — outgrown clothing, unwanted toys, well-intentioned gear and more. It’s for the things that ought to be loved by many and deserve a long life. And it’s for parents who appreciate the value of pre-loved things.
As parents ourselves, we’ve experienced the phenomenon that comes with raising children, the one in which our closets, garages, basements — just about every room in our homes — gets filled with stuff. So much stuff. Who would have imagined that such small, benevolent creatures would require so much?! Yet we find ourselves constantly needing things for our kids as they outgrow what they have and want what they don’t. So begins the never-ending cycle.
We see an opportunity to alter this cycle, maybe even make it meaningful. Itizen’s mission is to make people consider the resources they have but no longer use or need and encourage them to extend the life of those things. It’s an opportunity to tap into our communal “wealth,” strengthen our communities by bringing together people with shared interests and values, and reduce our impact on the environment. And it seems like good financial sense to purchase, sell, swap, and share pre-owned kids’ stuff given the rate at which they cycle through it.
We feel we have a pretty special place here, so we hope you have a chance to check it out. Thanks for stopping.
Kindly,
Mary & Dori
